My goodness, the internet seems to be brimming with awesome tales of interspecies friendship lately. We love it! So without further ado, here’s another one for you:
In the beginning of May a Canadian wolf named Jacob and a grey she-wolf named Lopa became parents in Vladivostok, Russia. Unfortunately Lopa rejected her five cubs. People tried feeding the cubs with special milk, but four of them didn’t survive. That left one little female in need of care. People tried unsuccessfully to pair her with a sheepdog, but the dog responded aggressively and things began to look very grim for the frail little cub.
Fortunately a local Dalmatian named Ryba, aged 8, showed some interest in the cub.The wolf cub, now named Rapunzel, tried to suckle from the motherly Dalmation, which seemed impossible since Ryba has never had pups of her own. Nevertheless, somehow Ryba began to suckle her little charge. Ryba takes good care of her little adopted daughter, sleeps beside her, licks the cub clean, massages her stomach, and doesn’t let strangers come close.
When wolf cubs first open their eyes they imprint on whatever they see. On May 18th Rapunzel finally opened her eyes to see Ryba, which officially maked Ryba her new mother. Aww…

Therian Jewelry
I have seen a lot of basic therian jewelry, so, I’ve decided that step by step I am going to try to define a material culture for myself that isn’t just appropriation of other stuff and tries to involve good craft. First, I thought I’d try my hand at the theta-delta symbol incorporated with etched drawings. I have done two of these so far and at this point I realize that while I have the construction down pat I don’t know what people want for the necklace portion.
So, tumblr therians. Could you tell me what kinds of pendant necklaces you like? Do you like cords, chains, or something different? What kinds of clasping mechanisms? Do you have allergies? I would love thoughts, not “likes”, please. I plan on selling commissions of these through here and deviantart this summer and I want to know what I should order for supplies. I also would like to mention that the etching I do is not possible in silver or sterling silver. I pretty much can only work with copper, brass, or nickel silver.
Also, if you have had ideas for therian or otherkin jewelry but don’t know anyone who could make it for you/etc, I may be interested. I might not even charge you to make it. I am really more interested in making and learning and sharing if it is a great new idea.
I think that this is a wonderful idea and I would love to have one, I just have one question : is there any way to ask for a more personal etching? like one specific to one’s kintype? I’ve been looking for jewelry that has something to do with foxes and it’s been hard to find much.The circle plate is for a personal etching. I draw and etch every single one of them. They aren’t photo-transfered or done by a machine. I primarily draw canines and if you are interested in seeing my artwork you can check me out at reddogdied.deviantart.com. :)
The whole point of making these are to give people (especially therians in this case as the theta-delta is specific to us) some more personal expression.
I like cords, because I constantly break chains.
These are fantastic. I like cords better too.
I really like this! would your commissions be limited to this design (meaning, including the theta-delta?)
